Introduction

Humans are a special species on Planet Earth with their unique ability to communicate with fellow humans using a language. There are a number of languages widely used in everyday conversations (written and oral). Words or phrases used for a general conversation can be loosely defined. However, for communication/conversations that are of a serious/impactful nature, it is important that words and phrases are chosen carefully to ensure that ambiguity is removed, and the message is clear to the “intended” audience.

A famous quote attributed to George Bernard Shaw (and a few others) exemplifies this!

During the course of the last 12+ months , the CDR Support team has published a number of knowledge articles. The articles about the Production Incidents from the July 2020 release allowed us (the non-major ADIs ) to learn from the experiences of the CDR Pioneers last year.

The goal of this article series (Lessons learned from CTS experience) is to…

Jim and Mr CDR haven’t caught up with each other for a few months even though they promised each other to meet up once every 2–3 weeks. Jim had done his homework following their previous conversation last year and is back with some more questions for Mr.CDR.

Jim: Good day Mr. CDR. I looked at the CDR website and other public…

Most of us have seen and read about the unfortunate incident on the 6th of January 2021: “Storming of the U.S Capitol”. There are a number of lessons that we (not just the folks in the US) need to learn from this incident. The lessons learned will cover a broad spectrum including Moral, Political, and Technology.

This article focuses on the usage of Cloud technology and how one of the social network/media players — Parler got booted out and what is the lesson in Business Continuity from this incident for the other players.

Before we dive deep into Jim’s perspective, let me re-iterate the goal of this series of articles. It is to educate the community (in particular the average customer who is meant to be at the center of CDR) about CDR what it attempts to do, what are the benefits to the participants of this ecosystem/regime.

“The education piece will be critical in building consumer awareness, trust, and comfort in consenting to data sharing”

CDR is live and scoring runs for more than 90 days now. ACCC has amended the CDR Rules to permit accredited intermediaries to collect data on behalf of third party data recipients, with consumer consent.

The goal of this article is to introduce the readers to this new role of “Intermediary” that is emerging in the CDR ecosystem and how they interact with the other key players in the ecosystem — Accredited Data Recipients (ADRs) and Data Holders.

CDR Regime (Before the introduction of Intermediaries)

Open Banking is an initiative that has been billed as a disruption/opportunity in the last few years. A number of countries across the globe have introduced legislation and/or regulations to mandate the banks to “Open up their data”.

There are numerous articles and white papers on what Open Banking is and how it has been realized in various parts of the world (such as UK).

Open Banking Ecosystem (in the UK)- Consumers, Banks and TPPs

The focus for Open Banking in the UK and other countries has been the Banking/Financial industry (as the name suggests). They were focussed on unlocking the data held at Banks and make them…

Introduction

OAuth2 Specification clearly articulates how a resource server (such as IBM API Connect, Apigee, Kong, etc ) can work with Authorization Servers (e.g ForgeRock, Ping, Okta, etc) to perform delegated authorizations. A typical interaction between the Client, Authorization Server and Resource Server is shown below.

Figure 1: Typical OAuth2 Interaction — Client, Resource Server, and Authorization Server

a) Clients receive the tokens via the “/token” endpoints

b) Clients send the access token and client_id to the Resource Server

c) Resource Server works with the Introspection endpoint on the Authorization Servers to validate the access token.

Numerous solutions have been…

For the last few weeks (and months) the entire day is filled with the news from Corona Virus (COVID-19). In a cliched sense, the only story in town is COVID-19. The news is all about disaster, death and gloom. As human-kind ,we are focussing only on the negative impacts on us during this period. Are we even looking at any positive elements?

Let’s explore the positives from a few different dimensions:

Social:

Aristotle: “Man is by nature a social animal”.

As civilizations have evolved, the way we have socialized has changed dramatically. In the 21st Century, the social interactions typically…
